Margolles makes work from what violence leaves behind - water, residue, thread, sound recovered from actual scenes - and refuses to represent the violence itself. Thirty years of that practice across MoMA PS1's third floor, in a former schoolhouse whose rooms already feel like evidence, is about as uncompromising as a museum show gets. A companion installation runs simultaneously at MoMA in Midtown.
