NYBG's Flower Power turns 250 acres groovy — psychedelic floral displays plus Warhol and Milton Glaser works channeling sixties counterculture in bloom.

It's the most photographed exhibition in the Bronx for a reason: acres of psychedelic planting design with actual Warhols indoors is an unmatched combination. September light and late-season blooms make this stretch the sweet spot before the show closes. If your weekend needs one big, colorful, all-ages destination, this delivers a half-day of it — trippy installations, live music moments, and lawn space to sprawl.

What to expect

A full-garden takeover: flower-packed borders and themed displays outdoors, sixties art and fashion in the galleries, and seasonal programming layered through the grounds. Comfortable shoes matter — seeing it properly means a couple miles of strolling, with the tram as backup. Weekends draw families and serious photographers alike; mornings are calmer.

  • Buy timed garden tickets online to skip entry lines
  • Morning visits get the best light and thinnest crowds for photos
  • Tram and accessible routes cover the major displays
  • Arthur Avenue's Italian food is a 15-minute walk for after
