Green-Wood Cemetery

Green-Wood is Brooklyn's 478-acre historic cemetery, founded in 1838, and admission to the grounds and the Green-House is always free. Enter through the main gate at Fifth Avenue and 25th Street, open every day from 7am to 7pm, one uphill block from the R train's 25th Street station, and you are in a landscape of hills, ponds and monuments that doubles as one of the city's best places for birding and a long walk. The public calendar runs trolley tours, nature walks, moonlight tours and evening concerts through the fall.
