Cremations has never been played live in full, and only two performances exist anywhere, one in a Los Angeles cemetery and this one in a Brooklyn church. The venue is the point: a stone sanctuary with an organ and pews, which is close to the ideal room for Eisold's misanthropic synth hymns. Rosa Anschutz opening with material from Sabbatical makes it a coherent bill rather than a nostalgia set with a filler support.
What to expect
A seated show in a church sanctuary rather than a club, with the reverb of a stone room doing half the work on the noisier material. Cremations is early Cold Cave, harsher and more abstract than the synth-pop the project later became, so expect drone and distortion alongside the melodies. Seating is unreserved and fills from the front, and the room is quiet between songs.
