Bryant Park programs an hour of live children's entertainment beside its carousel most mornings of the summer, free, and the magic dates are the ones that hold a room of four-year-olds completely still. Mike Patrick and Zach Alexander both work the format properly — close-up tricks, volunteers pulled from the front row, jokes pitched at parents over the kids' heads. It is the easiest good hour in Midtown with small children, and it costs nothing.
What to expect
Seating is set up beside Le Carrousel on the park's east side, with kids on the ground up front and parents on chairs behind. The show runs about an hour with audience volunteers throughout. The carousel itself runs separately for a small fare.
