Boyce's subject is the voice as a tool for freedom and mobilization, and rather than illustrate that she made it happen in the building: two days of workshops, singing, procession and altar-building that the show is assembled out of. The filmed procession moves through the museum's own Panorama galleries, folding the institution into the work. An exhibition about the neighborhood it sits in.
What to expect
You walk into a wrapped, layered environment: kaleidoscopic wallpaper prints behind photographs, video documentation of artmaking and movement workshops, a Dia de Muertos community altar and recorded reflections from participants. It sits inside the New York City Building in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, a short walk from the Unisphere, so pair it with the park.

- 7 train to Mets-Willets Point, then walk through the park past the Unisphere to the museum.
- The museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays; weekend hours are longer than weekday hours.
- The US Open is running in the same park this weekend, so the subway station will be unusually busy.
