Aladdin's Friend Like Me is a full-scale production number that stops the show every night, and the flying carpet still crosses the New Amsterdam stage with no visible rigging. The theatre itself is an Art Nouveau landmark restored in the nineties, which makes the building part of the ticket. What to expect
A restored 1903 house with lush organic detailing running through the lobby, staircases and auditorium. Two acts with one interval, plus heavy use of pyrotechnics and quick changes. Expect a family audience, a very loud reaction to the Genie's big number, and a merchandise queue that forms at the interval.
