About
Joey Arias gets abducted by aliens and climbs a King Kong skyline in Basil Twist's puppet fever dream — the downtown cult hit returns home.
Arias with a Twist became a downtown legend by dropping Joey Arias's Billie Holiday-inflected voice into Basil Twist's handmade puppet universe: alien abductions, a psychedelic Garden of Eden and a Busby Berkeley kick line on a spinning cake. The revival brings it back to the very SoHo stage where it started. If you missed the cult years, this is your chance to see what the fuss was about.
What to expect
Part cabaret, part visual spectacle: Arias sings while puppets, fabric and effects transform the stage around him scene by scene, from a psychedelic Garden of Eden to a New York skyline. Shows run at several times a day in HERE's Dorothy B. Williams Theatre, including select late-night slots. The humor is adult and gleefully transgressive.
