The Walk to Feed the Hungry is Buddhist Global Relief's signature event — a contemplative counterpoint to the usual charity 5K, where the walking itself is meant to embody care for the world's hungry. Astoria Park's riverfront paths under the Triborough and Hell Gate bridges make a fittingly beautiful course. All faiths and none are welcome; the cause is simply food for people who need it.

What to expect

Expect a gentle morning gathering with brief reflections, then an unhurried group walk through the park's waterfront paths. The scale is intimate and the pace deliberately easy — this is a walk, not a race.

Do I need to be Buddhist to participate?

No — the walk welcomes everyone; it's a hunger-relief fundraiser with a mindful spirit, not a religious requirement.

Where does the money go?
