Live accompaniment is the whole difference between watching a silent film and seeing one, and Sterner has been doing this at Film Forum for decades. The Cameraman is Keaton's last great picture and one of the funniest films ever made about making pictures in New York. An 11 AM start with a Fleischer cartoon attached is about as good as a Sunday morning in the city gets.
What to expect
About 76 minutes for the feature plus a six-minute Fleischer short and the Betty Boop reel, so roughly 90 minutes total. The room fills with families but the comedy is pitched at everyone. Sterner plays the entire film live, without a break.
