The Tompkins Square Greenmarket is the East Village's weekly reset: regional farms trucking in peak-summer tomatoes, stone fruit, greens and flowers to the park's Avenue A edge, with bakers and dairy stands filling out a real grocery run. August is the market's best month — sweet corn and peaches hit their stride. Come for the produce, stay for the park's peak people-watching a few steps away.

What to expect

A line of farm stands along the park's edge, busiest through late morning, with everything picked within a couple hundred miles. Expect seasonal produce, eggs, bread and flowers; bring your own bags and browse the whole row before committing.
