Photobooks only fully work in the hand, at the pace you turn the pages, and ICP's club exists to put them there instead of behind glass. This session surveys collected obsessions and highlights, meaning the books on the table are the ones a collector chased rather than the canonical list, and it runs alongside the museum's Photobooks USA 2000-25 show. If you make zines, collect books or just want to understand why sequencing matters, this is a small room worth sitting in.

What to expect

A seated, discussion-led session around a table of books, with each volume introduced, passed around and talked through. Expect a small group, conversation about printing, sequencing and edition history, and time afterwards to walk the Photobooks USA and Yves Saint Laurent exhibitions in the galleries.

Good to know

  • ICP, 79 Essex Street inside Essex Crossing; F/M/J/Z to Delancey-Essex
  • Capacity is small, so registration through ICP is recommended rather than walking in
  • Handling rare books means clean, dry hands and no drinks at the table
  • Pairs naturally with the Photobooks USA 2000-25 exhibition upstairs
  • Good for zine makers, collectors, students and photo-book beginners alike
  • The building is elevator accessible from the Essex Street entrance
