Matches Opens in the Old Enid's Space

The Greenpoint Fish & Lobster team took the legendary Enid's corner, restored its paint and named the bar after another lost neighborhood dive.

Enid's held down 560 Manhattan Avenue for twenty years before Bar Bruno took the room and then closed. Greenpoint Fish & Lobster's answer was to restore the original Enid's exterior paint and name the place for Bar Matchless, the dive that stood across the street until 2023. It is a bar built entirely out of what Greenpoint has already lost, which is a very Greenpoint thing to do.

What to expect

Sixteen-dollar cocktails, pan-seared shrimp, steak frites and a burger under Gruyere, caramelized onion sauce, pickled onions and matchstick potatoes. A late-night menu is planned, along with a disco ball, DJ sets and a dance floor once the room finds its footing.

Is this the return of Enid's?

No. It occupies the Enid's space and restored its paint, but the name honors Bar Matchless, which stood across the street until 2023.
