By the round of sixteen the draw has no more filler in it, which makes this the first night where both scheduled matches are likely to be worth the ticket. Ashe's evening sessions are also the only ones the tournament schedules with the roof open over a full house and the lights on, which is the version of this stadium people travel for. Sunday of Labor Day weekend means you get all of it without taking a weekday off.

What to expect

Two round-of-sixteen singles matches on the main court, with gates opening an hour before play. Grounds access comes with the seat, so the outer courts, the practice courts and the food village are open to you. Expect a quieter, more tennis-literate crowd than Saturday and matches that are markedly better contested.

  • The night card is a distinct ticket from the Sunday afternoon session in the same stadium.
  • The retractable roof keeps the stadium matches on schedule in bad weather.
  • Stadium admission includes the grounds, so come early and watch doubles or juniors on the outer courts.
  • Public transit is the sane approach: the Flushing subway line or the LIRR to Mets-Willets Point, then the boardwalk into the gate.
  • Bags are screened at every entrance and the permitted size is small.
  • This is one of the last two night sessions before the tournament switches to single sessions for the quarterfinals.

Is a day-session ticket good for the evening?

No. Arthur Ashe Stadium runs two separately ticketed sittings and the building is cleared between them. You need the evening ticket for the night matches.

What else does the ticket get me?

An Arthur Ashe seat also serves as a grounds pass, covering general admission to the outer courts, the practice courts and the food and retail plazas for the duration of your session.
