New York's most-maligned bird gets the art treatment here: artist Jenna Rothstein walks families through building pigeon puppets with real movable joints — paper fasteners at the wings and legs — then decorating them with drawing, paint and collage, and finally animating the whole flock through a shared cityscape. It is three hours of genuine making rather than a craft table with a template. If your kid is six or older and likes building things, this is the best-value afternoon at Industry City.

What to expect

You build the puppet first, learning simple joint construction with paper fasteners, then personalize it with drawing, painting and collage. The session ends with collaborative play, moving the puppets through a shared street scene. Materials and instruction are provided at Lista Studios inside Industry City.
