Nearly 1,000 New York City public school students submitted work, and 125 pieces, from collages and paintings to photographs and sculpture, made the cut to hang at The Met. The artists range from prekindergarten through 12th grade and come from all five boroughs plus District 75, the citywide district serving students with disabilities. If you are bringing a young artist to the museum, this is the room that sends them home to draw.
What to expect
The show fills the Uris Center for Education, a quieter corner of the building than the main galleries. Each work is shown with its student artist, so you can trace how ideas and skills grow from early childhood to senior year.

- Look for it in the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education, not the upper-floor galleries
- A great first stop for families before the Egyptian galleries or arms and armor
- Nearest subway is the 4/5/6 at 86th Street, then walk west to Fifth Avenue
- Allow about half an hour to see all 125 works
