Rana Begum treats light as her real material: her Reflector, Louvre and Chainlink works in metal, stone and glass catch and bend the room's light so they seem to change as you walk past. Rooted in Agnes Martin and Donald Judd as much as Islamic geometry, this is her first New York solo show, following her US museum debut at SCAD. What to expect
Walk slowly, because the wall-mounted and suspended works shift in color and density depending on where you stand. Expect louvre-like panels inspired by ventilation grilles and facades, reflective works and chainlink forms, arranged with a rhythm and repetition that give the gallery a meditative feel.
