Tacita Dean: Eclipse Drawings

Tacita Dean aimed her camera at the 2024 total eclipse without looking and the light trails became twelve prints now in Chelsea.

During the April 2024 total solar eclipse, Tacita Dean pointed her camera at the sun in Eagle Pass, Texas, without looking through the viewfinder, and the twisting light trails became drawings made by sunlight itself. Gemini G.E.L. turned them into twelve glowing screenprints of loops and arcs on black. If you remember standing outside for the eclipse, this small Chelsea show is a lovely echo.

What to expect

Expect a quiet third-floor print gallery hung with the twelve Eclipse Drawings, bright looping lines floating on dark grounds. It is a short visit that fits neatly into a Chelsea gallery walk along West 24th Street.

Good to know

  • The gallery is on the third floor of 535 West 24th Street.
  • Take the C or E to 23rd Street and walk west.
  • Easy to combine with FLAG and the rest of the West 24th and 25th Street galleries.
  • A good pick for print collectors and fans of Dean's film work.

Going? Keep it.
