About
Inspired by Ueda Akinari’s Ugetsu Monogatari, AOZUKIN is an interdisciplinary performance combining contemporary dance, Butoh-influenced movement, spoken English narration, live violin, and visual storytelling. Created and performed by New York-based Japanese artist Cay Izumi, the work explores desire, grief, attachment, and the boundary between the human and the monstrous. Performances take place Saturday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 4:00 pm, with doors opening 30 minutes before each performance. Each performance is followed by an artist talk and an after-party with guest performances.
