Unlike the interchangeable mozzarepa street fairs, the Antic is Atlantic Avenue's actual businesses spilling onto the street — which is why New Yorkers who skip every other street fair still make this one. Fifty-one years in, it's a genuine institution: live bands, beer gardens, and blocks of food from the avenue's Middle Eastern, Italian, and new-guard restaurants. It's free, six hours long, and walkable from half of brownstone Brooklyn.
What to expect
A packed, car-free Atlantic Avenue: multiple music stages, sidewalk beer gardens, food stands from resident restaurants, kids' activities, and heavy crowds at peak mid-afternoon.
Good to know
- Free to attend; bring cash for smaller vendors
- Runs noon–6pm rain or shine
- Nearly every subway line touches the route — Atlantic Av–Barclays Ctr (2/3/4/5/B/D/N/Q/R) or Borough Hall
- Dogs and strollers are welcome but the avenue gets shoulder-to-shoulder by 2pm
- Organized by the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation — the fair benefits the avenue's own businesses
