Fresh out of Yale, where he studied with Walker Evans, Baldwin Lee hauled a 4x5 view camera around 1970s New York in winter dawns, when the streets were almost empty. The resulting large prints of storefronts, parked cars, Park Row and the young World Trade Center have never been shown until now. If you are nostalgic for pre-glass New York, this is a time machine on 57th Street.

Expect crisp, large-format black-and-white prints of Lower Manhattan, Queens tennis courts and the Brooklyn view, hung in a calm Midtown gallery suite in an office building on East 57th Street, with the artist present at the opening reception.
