Three community members chosen through an open call spent eight months in the Queens Museum's photography collection and came back with three very different takes on the word American. The mostly albumen and vintage silver gelatin prints touch family lore, migration, fame, intimacy and conflict. If you like shows with a personal, neighborhood point of view, this is a quiet one worth adding to a Queens Museum visit.
What to expect
Expect three distinct groupings of historical photographs, each shaped by one fellow's experience and research. It is a contemplative gallery that works well alongside the livelier Sonia Boyce installation.
