Christine Choy has spent fifty years filming the people the official record skipped, and Anthology has cleared five days for her. Who Killed Vincent Chin? is the one that earned the Oscar nomination — an autoworker beat a Chinese American engineer to death in 1982 Detroit and served no time — and it screens here in the new Academy Film Archive restoration. It plays Friday and again Sunday.

An 82-minute documentary at 6:45 pm in Anthology’s East Village theater, shown as a 16mm-to-DCP transfer of the recent restoration, in English and Taishanese with English subtitles. It is part of CHRISTINE CHOY, a retrospective running September 9–13 and co-presented with Third World Newsreel.
