Arlene Shechet bends aluminum and Cor-Ten steel into monumental curves beside burnished clay works in her first Pace NYC show since 2020.

Arlene Shechet makes steel look like it is folding and breathing, and her new monumental sculptures in aluminum and Cor-Ten are paired with a clay series using terra sigillata, the ancient Greek and Roman slip that burnishes to a glow without glaze. After her big outdoor show at Storm King, this is her first Pace show in New York in six years. Sculpture fans should put it at the top of a Chelsea walk.

What to expect

Large biomorphic metal works with visible cuts, welds and seams, alongside reddish-black Touching Ground ceramics installed so you peer through and around them. The two spaces sit side by side on West 25th Street.
