Wave Hill sits high above the Hudson with the Palisades across the water, and forest bathing asks you to slow right down and take it in through every sense rather than march the paths. Guide Cindy Olsen leads the group through the gardens at a deliberate pace and closes with ceremonial tea. If your week has been all screens and subway, this is the Bronx's quietest two hours of the weekend.

What to expect

A small adults-only group meets with the guide and moves slowly through the grounds, pausing for prompts to notice sounds, textures and smells. Expect long stretches of quiet, some standing and sitting outdoors, and a closing tea.
