In the ICP Library on Ludlow Street, tables are set with photobooks that Queens-based art historian Re'al Christian picked around one idea: (dis)continuous archives. Christian works at the Vera List Center for Art and Politics and writes for BOMB, Art in America and the Brooklyn Rail, and her research covers the material histories of diaspora, movement, media and ecology. If you'd rather page through photobooks than scroll, this free club is an easy Lower East Side morning.
What to expect
You'll be in the ICP Library with a curated set of photobooks from its collection that you can pick up and look through. The guest curator frames the theme, and the rest of the session is browsing and talking with other people who love photography books.
