About
Walk Fort Tryon Park with Uptown Dance Collective for free outdoor dance, live music and poetry, with Bomba and Samba to try along the way.
Uptown Dance Collective turns a walk through Fort Tryon Park into a sequence of performances. Its National Dance Day production, Alterations and Repairs: Nature and Us, brings dance, original music and spoken word into the park landscape, with opportunities to learn Bomba along the route and Samba at the end.
What to expect
Meet at the Broadway and Dongan Place entrance at 3pm, then follow the group between performance sites on wheelchair-accessible park pathways. The program runs until 5pm and combines dance with live instrumental music and poetry. Bring only seating you can carry as the audience moves: the organizers suggest light pillows, blankets or folding chairs.
