Yoshiaki Kawajiri's 1993 Ninja Scroll, about the swordsman Jubei investigating the mysterious deaths of an entire village, is a foundational work of adult action anime. The new 4K restoration was scanned from the original 35mm negative with Kawajiri overseeing it, and Alamo shows it subtitled. If you grew up on late-night anime, this is a rare big-screen chance close to home on Staten Island.
