Oded Halahmy learned to carve in his father's goldsmith shop in Baghdad before his family was airlifted to Israel in 1951, and those roots run through these intimate 1970s wood sculptures. Their forms suggest ladders and windows, with titles about family, ritual and orientation. If you are visiting the Jewish Museum's bigger shows, this quiet gallery is a rewarding detour.
