FreeFree entryFood market

The open-air food market runs every Sunday inside Prospect Park through late October, free to walk into and eat under the trees.

October is the best month on Breeze Hill - the summer crush is gone, the tree cover is turning, and you can get a patch of grass without a scouting mission. Over 60 local businesses set up here each Sunday, and because it sits inside the park rather than on a plaza, a stop folds into a longer walk on the Long Meadow or the Lullwater. If you need a plan that works for four people who cannot agree on lunch, this is the answer.

What to expect

Rows of vendor tents on Breeze Hill near the Lincoln Road entrance, most selling one or two signature dishes designed to be eaten standing or on the grass. Bring something to sit on and expect the heaviest crowd around the middle of the day.

Good to know

  • Enter at Lincoln Road off Flatbush Avenue - Breeze Hill is a short walk in from that gate
  • Take the B, Q or S to Prospect Park station, or the 2 and 3 to Grand Army Plaza
  • You pay individual vendors directly, so bring a card and some cash
  • Bring a blanket - seating is grass, not tables
  • Combine it with the Long Meadow or the Lullwater for a full afternoon

Going? Keep it.
