Torkwase Dyson has spent more than ten years swimming and diving around the world, and these new paintings translate what she witnessed underwater into incandescent blues, rust-red flickers and curving geometric constructions. She is having a big year, with work at the Venice Biennale and the Carnegie International. Catch the New York chapter in Chelsea.
What to expect
Mid-sized canvases primed with translucent pooled washes, then built up with shaped wooden panels, strings and hardware. The canvas edges, where color bleeds, are part of the work, so look at the sides too.
