For one Saturday, Broadway shuts to cars from Waverly Place to 14th Street and turns into a multi-block fair along Greenwich Village's eastern edge. It's the classic New York street-fair ritual — sausage-and-pepper smoke, mozzarepa stands, tables of sunglasses and silver jewelry — strung along one of downtown's great walking spines. Free, rain or shine, and easy to fold into any Village-to-Union Square wander.
What to expect
Both sides of Broadway lined with vendor tents: fair-food staples like arepas, sausage-and-peppers, lemonade, and funnel cake alongside tables of jewelry, sunglasses, clothes, and housewares. The crowd is a mix of browsing locals, NYU students, and tourists, thickening as you head toward Union Square. Come hungry and treat it as a stroll.
