Paul Cézanne and Amedeo Modigliani headline more than 50 modern European works, with Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Chaïm Soutine alongside. The show also tells the story of Henry and Rose Pearlman, the collectors whose gift split among the Brooklyn Museum, LACMA and MoMA is among the most important in the museum's history. What to expect
Expect paintings, sculpture and works on paper in the Morris A. and Meyer Schapiro Wing on the fourth floor, framed by the collectors' story. It is a manageable, museum-quality survey you can see in about an hour, and it pairs easily with Art of Manga and the Hopi Kachina Dolls show in the same building.
