The New York City Marathon first ran through all five boroughs in 1976, and NYRR is celebrating the anniversary with a special Open Run in each borough. Staten Island's is at Conference House Park, the southernmost point in New York State, with views of Raritan Bay and 300 years of history around the trails. If you have been meaning to try a group 5K, this is a friendly, free place to start.

What to expect

A community-led 5K run or walk on park paths, with a festive anniversary atmosphere and runners of every age and pace. Plan to linger afterward for the waterfront views.
