Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton, captured with its original Broadway cast, plays for free on the playground basketball courts off Fulton Street. It is a show many New Yorkers never scored tickets to, and a neighborhood crowd singing along outdoors is a very different experience from a theater seat. If you have a Hamilton fan in the family, this is the easiest night of the season to bring them.

What to expect

Neighbors spread blankets across the courts as the screen goes up, and the film starts once it is dark enough. Expect a family audience, plenty of sing-alongs, and a PG-13 rating for language.

Good to know

  • The A, C, J, Z and L all stop at Broadway Junction, a short walk away.
  • Parks lists online registration for this screening; signing up ahead is the simplest way to go.
  • Rated PG-13, so check it suits younger kids.
  • Glass bottles and alcohol are not allowed at Parks screenings.
  • Bring a blanket or low chair; seating is on the ground.

Going? Keep it.
