Daybreaker made its name with 6am dance parties, and ALIVE stretches that idea across a whole day on Pier 3, from sunrise to sunset on the East River waterfront. It is sober, all ages and free, built around dancing, music, creating and a few sweet surprises for more than 3,000 people. If you want a weekend day that leaves you feeling better than when you started, set an alarm for this one.
What to expect
The pier opens at dawn and the program moves through the day in guided stages: movement and dance, live music, workshops for making things and quieter moments for connecting. You can come for the sunrise dance, drop in at midday or stay until 8pm. Daybreaker posts the full schedule on its own site.
Good to know
- Pier 3 is a short walk from the York St F train or the High St A/C, or take the NYC Ferry to DUMBO/Fulton Ferry.
- It is an alcohol-free event; the draw is dancing and community, not a bar.
- RSVP ahead to get updates, though walk-ups are welcome.
- Wear shoes you can dance in and bring layers, since the waterfront is chilly at sunrise.
- Families are welcome; organisers describe it as open to all ages.
