As fall winds pick up over the Hudson, Wave Hill's Family Art Project has kids crafting their own windchimes while learning why gardens around the world hang them. It is a drop-in, hands-on project included with grounds admission, followed by an all-ages storytime in the Gund Theater. If you want a Bronx garden morning that ends with something your kids made, this is a sweet one.

What to expect

Craft tables at Wave Hill House where staff guide children through assembling a windchime to take home. Families come and go across the three-hour window, then head out to the lawns and gardens.
