Owl's Head is the Brooklyn park with the view — a grassy hill that drops toward the Narrows and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, and on a clear October morning that hill is worth the trip on its own. It's My Park sessions are the two hours when the people who actually keep these gardens going will hand you a trowel and tell you what goes where. Bulbs planted this Saturday come up in spring, which is a more satisfying return than most free morning activities offer.
What to expect
A guided volunteer session meeting at the Owl's Head Park House: bulb planting, mulching and weeding in the park's garden beds. Tools are typically supplied by the volunteer group. Dress for dirt and expect to be outside the whole two hours.

- Nearest train: R to Bay Ridge–95 St, then walk north to the park.
- Meet at the Owl's Head Park House, the park's main building.
- Wear clothes and shoes you do not mind getting muddy.
