The Jazz Foundation of America parks a piano trio at the edge of the Hudson and lets the sunset handle the lighting design. Marcus Persiani leads Trio Cachimbo through standards, Latin grooves and pop tunes rebuilt in the George Shearing mold, with conguero Matthew Gonzalez pushing the beat underneath. What to expect
An open-air concert on the piers at 125th Street, with the Hudson and the Jersey shoreline behind the band. Seating is casual - benches, the railing, whatever you carry in - and the crowd tends to be a mix of West Harlem regulars, cyclists coming off the greenway and people who came down to the water for the view. Expect one tight, danceable set rather than a long festival afternoon.
