Things to Do at Pioneer Works
Pioneer Works is an artist and scientist-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit cultural center at 159 Pioneer Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn, in a red brick building put up in 1866 for what was then Pioneer Iron Works. It holds three floors of interconnected studio, exhibition and performance space plus a 20,000-square-foot garden, and the galleries and garden are open Wednesday through Sunday, 12-6 pm. The only subway on its own directions is the F/G at Smith-9th Street Station; it also lists the B61 bus at the King Street stop and the NYC Ferry South Brooklyn route to Red Hook/Atlantic Basin. A visit is usually the current exhibitions, the garden, and whatever program is running that day or night.
