Once a month the cavernous former ironworks in Red Hook becomes a free open house, with residents like Lia Kohl, Simon Benjamin and Natalia Mejía Murillo opening their studios and exhibitions such as Tuomas A. Laitinen's Siphon on view. This edition adds a Cephalopod Facility program on camouflage and Caribbean-inspired comfort food from Dinner Belle. If you want a lazy Sunday with art, science and a garden, this is the weekend's move.
What to expect
Expect to wander freely between floors, stepping into working studios and chatting with artists, then drifting into exhibitions and hands-on programs. Food from Dinner Belle and the Pioneer Works Bar keep people lingering in the garden, and the building fills up as the afternoon goes on.
