The Brooklynite sends runners out and back along the Shore Parkway waterfront path in Bay Ridge, with New York Bay on one side and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge ahead. It's a small, friendly City Tri race: one loop for the 5K, two for the 10K, with chip timing, medals, a tech shirt and Brooklyn bagels at the pier. If you want a fall race without the crowds or lotteries of the big NYRR events, this is the weekend's most scenic low-key start line.
What to expect
Runners pick up bibs at American Veterans Memorial Pier before the start, then head south on the shoreline path to a turnaround water station roughly a mile and a half out and return north. Water tables along the course offer water, electrolyte drinks and gels, and results post live after each loop. An awards ceremony covers the top three overall and age groups.
