More than 30 small-press and independent authors and publishers set up inside Barrow's Intense, the Sunset Park ginger-liqueur maker's tasting room, for the second Brooklyn Books & Booze fair. Beyond browsing there are panels and an agent pitching session for writers hoping to get noticed. If you like discovering books you will not find on a chain-store table, this is a fun Saturday detour.

What to expect

Expect tables of indie titles across genres, authors happy to talk about their work and signing copies, plus scheduled panels through the day. The tasting room bar sits right there if you want a drink while you browse. Many authors are local to Brooklyn and New York.

Good to know

  • The fair is in Building 6 at 68 34th Street; take the D, N or R to 36th Street.
  • Bring a tote; many authors sell and sign on the spot.
  • Writers can take part in an agent pitching session.
  • Industry City's food hall is nearby for lunch.
