At Far Rock Farm, a working urban farm a few blocks from the Rockaway boardwalk, kids get their hands in the soil harvesting crops, planting and playing farm games. The Far Rock Urban Agro-Education Center built the day around where food comes from and why local growing matters. If your kids have never pulled a vegetable out of the ground, this free afternoon fixes that.
