Concrete Plant Park turned a former industrial site on the Bronx River into a waterfront park, and its preserved plant structures make a striking backdrop as you push off from the launch. The Bronx River Alliance lends the boats and gives a quick orientation, then sends groups onto the water for half an hour or so. If you've never seen the Bronx from river level, this is a free, walk-up way to do it.
What to expect
Arrive, sign a waiver, and join the next wave — boats go out at the top of each hour through the afternoon, about 15 paddlers per group. Staff and volunteers are on the water, but it isn't a narrated tour; you paddle a stretch of river and return to the launch.
Good to know
- The 6 train to Whitlock Av is the closest stop to the park.
- No pre-registration — it's first come, first served, so arrive before the hour to make a wave.
- Minors must be with an adult, who signs their waiver.
- Wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting wet.
- Each wave is capped at around 15 people.
