On the weekend of the autumn equinox, Wave Hill's Family Art Project has kids tracking the sun and building their own sundials in Wave Hill House. The garden sits on a bluff over the Hudson with the Palisades across the water, so the project comes with one of the best views in the Bronx. If you want a calm, crafty morning outdoors, pair this with a storytime and a picnic on the lawn.
What to expect
Drop-in craft tables run through the morning in Wave Hill House, with staff explaining the sun's path before kids build. A storytime for all ages takes place in the Gund Theater mid-morning. The gardens are open to wander after.
