Runners stream out from the St. George ferry terminal for 13.1 miles along Staten Island's Bay Street, looping through Fort Wadsworth beneath the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and down toward South Beach. It closes NYRR's Five-Borough Series and is the last shot at 4 Out of 6 guaranteed entry to next year's NYC Half, so the energy runs high. If you know someone racing, this is the weekend's best excuse to ride the ferry and cheer.
What to expect
Streets from Richmond Terrace down Bay Street, through Fort Wadsworth and along Father Capodanno Boulevard in South Beach close to traffic as the field moves through the North and East Shore. Spectators line the start and finish zone near the ferry terminal and pockets along Bay Street. Registered runners get a long-sleeve New Balance shirt and finishers get a medal.
