Randall's Island's Urban Farm grows more than 200 varieties of fruits, vegetables and herbs, and for one afternoon chefs turn those crops into tastings drawn from food cultures around the world. Kids stamp a passport as they move between stations brewing ginger soda, printing with vegetables and arranging flowers. If you want a free family outing that feels like leaving the city without leaving Manhattan, this is it.
What to expect
Stations spread through the farm plots, each with a tasting or hands-on activity, and lawn games for downtime. It's casual and drop-in: wander the beds, sample dishes, and collect passport stamps at your own pace.
