Pope.L crawled the length of Broadway for The Great White Way, and his drawings carry the same wit and bite, using peanut butter, flour, Pop-Tarts and brand names like Wite-Out to scramble ideas about race and the body. The Drawing Center makes the case that drawing sat at the core of everything he did. It closes at the end of this weekend, so this is your last chance to see it.
What to expect
Several interrelated series of works on paper mixing caricatured faces, word fragments and perishable materials. The pieces are absurd by design and not meant to be decoded, so give yourself permission to wander and react.
