Newtown Creek is one of the city's most storied industrial waterways, and seeing it from a canoe gives you a view of Greenpoint almost nobody gets. The volunteer boathouse supplies the boats, paddles and life vests, and guides steer each group. What to expect
Expect a short check-in at the tiny street-end park, a quick briefing from the trip leaders and a guided loop on the creek. Trips rotate every half hour or so, first come, first served. A backup date is set if weather cancels the day, so check the boathouse's channels before heading out.
